Scotland Loves Anime 2024 thoughts:
Promare - It's alright, mostly just absurdly over the top on purpose and a fairly standard exploitation metaphor and way too many characters who don't serve much of a purpose. Pretty gay, I guess? 6/10
Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro - Somehow I'd never seen any of these, was a lot of fun in terms of humours and animation, and improved by seeing with an audience too. 8/10
Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture (all 4 parts) - Eh. First half had me cautiously optimistic, hooked, had never seen the anime but it was some compelling melodrama. And then the second half paid it all off way too quickly and in really boring ways. 5/10
The Birth of Kitato: The Mystery of GeGeGe - Again I've never interacted with the source material this is a prequel to but it was a pretty solid horror story and honestly the end cap where they tie it in with the characters from the original who were tonally way sillier was the only bit that threw me off. Echos of Umineko in there, but a little more direct? Was not expecting it to be so gorey! 7/10
Suzume - Really loved this. My small brain saw the boat perched on the house near the beginning and thought "damn, was that inspired by the 2011 tsunami" - no, genius, the whole film is an exploration of the damn tsunami and its impact on the survivors. Loved the symbolism in this. 8/10
The Scent of Love - Just a music video but pretty pleasant and was interesting to hear from the director about it + her experience on Suzume afterwards. Not a huge amount to say. 6/10
A Few Moments of Cheers - Didn't really hit with me, it felt semi-autobiographical but the films own point about the protagonist being naiive seemed, unfortunately, to apply to the film itself. Recorded Q&A from Popriq afterwards was excellent though, the interviewer was too old to really "get it" but some of the stuff he spoke about his process really resonated. More than the film, which was about art resonating with people? Wild! 6/10
KuruYukaba - Unfortunately the world's tallest man was sat in front of me for this one. There was a short by the same director (set in the same world I think) before it but it was already fairly dreamlike and the man's head was fully obscuring the very low subtitles so I didn't really follow that. The film itself was some very interesting worldbuilding and animation but too short to really do anything with it in the end. What felt like the mid-point of the film was about 10 minutes from the end. 6/10.
The Colors Within - Girl with synesthesia starts a band with a girl she finds beautiful at catholic school. Incredibly sweet! Loved the characters here, and it was also such an autistic romance story, but then it's also about catholic school so they never explicitly get into a relationship. Let them kiss. Still. 9/10.
Look Back - Oh this seems like a fun story of childhood rivalry... Oh now it's a romance this is such a beautiful story! (Emotionally devastating). Go and watch this immediately please. 10/10
Sand Land - Basically Mad Max: Fury Road as told by the writer of Dragon Ball Z. Good fun, humorous, power-up fights in the desert as you'd expect. Liked it but didn't really compare tonally to the previous two! 7/10
Totto-Chan: The Little Girl At The Window - You know those heart wrenching historical dramas about small children experiencing the outbreak of war? Yeah it's one of those, obviously. Also broke my heart with the addition of knowing I was crying for (fictionalised versions of) real people who actually died what with it being based on an autobiography. 9/10
Kuramerukagari - Somehow the other world's tallest man sat in front of me for this other film in the same world, KuruYukaba, so this was also hard to follow except had even more factional "intrigue" going on. Many of the same comments as before, it seems like a really interesting world but that maybe the director is more interested in worldbuilding and cool designs than a compelling story, which I can respect. Did tie in to a flash animation he made 20 years ago (Usigaeru) which was fun! 6/10
Ghost Cat Anzu - Strong first half, I liked the cat who grew to become a middle aged man-cat-spirit, that was a fun concept. Without spoiling anything because I think that made it worse for me, the second half felt a bit hurried and unmotivated, including the ending. 6/10
Trapezium - A pretty strong drama about teenage girls experiencing the stresses of idol culture at the behest of an impressively manipulative band leader, but then is ultimately more of a gentle bonk on the head because ultimately it's still trying to be a wholesome film about idols. 7/10
So top three were probably Look Back, Totto-chan and The Colors Within, in that order. That's a lot of anime in one week.

"Would you kill me, my love?"
It was rhetorical, really. You liked being alive but what about being a captive is living? Unfortunately for you, your words had an audience, and the wrong one at that.
Code Geass Edition (pt 1/2): Lelouch, Suzaku
CW: suicidal ideation but doesn’t go past the title. kidnapping, manipulation, references to violence, threats of violence, very unhealthy relationships. This is not what a relationship should look like.
Lelouch Vi Britannia
Tumblr media
"Kill you?" He looked so amused. Amused but irked. With delicate brows raised and stood tall in his white regalia, he looked like a tyrant who was so humoured by the court jester, that me may just spare their life.
But, you could tell that he was surprised by your question. He clawed through his dark hair, his gaze not leaving you once. He looks down at you, purple eyes holding an uncomfortably off gleam to them.
"Never." You expected as much.
He reaches towards you, running his knuckles down your trembling cheek, and his gentle gaze holding yours. "Never you."
You stiffen, your ankles feeling tighter in their jewelled holds, your legs feeling much more jittery against the fine silk of your bedsheets.
"...then who?" Your voice is weak, after not having used it for so long.
He laughs this time, so light, so full. You wouldn't think he was laughing at someone else's death.
"Anyone. If that's what it would take to remind you-" a smooth hand curls around your neck, "that you are mine."
You don't fight him and he relishes in his hold over you, your submission. You've long since learned that he will never apply too much pressure if you stay still, instead becoming accustomed to the warmth his palm spreads around your neck.
"Now, my love. Who put those ideas in your head?" His face holds a perfect smile, but you know better than that. "That dying is better than being here, with me?"
He gestures to your opulent room, gold gilded the frames of every piece of furniture, you had a stocked kitchenette, an en suite, even a TV and laptop with access to the outside world. You had everything you needed to survive. But you didn't have freedom.
The doors only opened for Lelouch, your activity monitored and limited by Lelouch, every piece of clothing lovingly selected by Lelouch. Even now you could walk the perimeter of your small home, but the jingle of the chain around your ankle never let you forget that your life was lost long ago, even if you still breathe.
But you didn't say a word, simply looking at him. When he had first 'relocated' you, for your safety of course, you believed every lie. Followed every rule. And yet, he only got worse.
It was a shame really. You had loved him once, when you were children. You had hoped that the glowing boy of his youth was in there, somewhere, when he returned to the capital to usurp the throne. The frail genius became an emperor.
You were one of the few nobles who didn't fight his rule. You revelled in it even, tired of watching the world suffer at the hands of your brethren, angry at how they treated their own. He worked to tear down the work of his forefathers, which hurt your inner Britannian but your heart sang, knowing that those tyrants would lose their life’s work to flames set by their own blood.
He was on a roll, so it was surprising when he had proposed that you help him secure his rule by becoming the imperial consort. You were sure that that role would fall to his beautiful green haired companion. But he claimed that he needed you for this, that you were the key to peace. You hesitated, naturally, none of it made sense. But when you spent more time with him, joined him for strolls, dinners, meetings, you understood.
“You are perfect. Let no one question that.” He said. You felt warm, and you almost listened.
When he slipped the ring on your hand late one banquet, leaving a longing kiss on its place in your finger he whispered “Let no one question the future queen.”
And this time you believed him.
Now here you are, suffering the consequences of your naivete.
You looked up at the frustratingly handsome face of the current emperor, the man who trapped you so sweetly, the one you cannot help but to care for.
He seemed to have expected your silence. He continued to speak with a curl on his lips as you felt the heat from his hands slide from your neck to both your cheeks to hold your stare to his. All you could see was him.
"No matter. I know a way to ensure I am your only choice. Though I'd preferred for you to love me on your own."
Again, no response. Just a despaired look passing from your eyes to his.
"I, Lelouch vi Britannia, command you, to love only me." His voice is strangely soft as his eyes begin to glow a light pink and suddenly you feel something you've long tried to supress.
"...Lelouch." You sighed out his name, liking how it sounded.
"Yes, dearest?" He smiled, genuinely this time.
Your hands cup around his face, moving closer to him. "Lelouch, I-"
You stopped, flinching. Even he looked suprised. No, this isn't-
"Dearest?" His voice was so warm and gentle on your ears. A part of you giddy that it was towards you. You feel what little grasp you have slip-
-That's right, this is perfect. What was I thinking? He's my love.
Warmth flooded you. Of course, how could you forget?
With no hesitation this time, you pressed a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth.
"I love you."
Lelouch beamed.
.
Suzaku Kururugi
Tumblr media
It was a line you’d heard somewhere, corny but it stuck with you. You wanted to taste how it sounded, nothing serious. Though, it would’ve been better if Suzaku hadn’t just stumbled through the doorway.
He returns to his home in the 11's district, ready to start dinner, only to hear you ask him to kill you? You’d be stupid to think he wouldn’t overreact.
The door slammed shut behind him with a thud, his face draining of colour so quickly.
"What? What makes you think I'd ever do that? That's the last thing I-"
He panics, dropping the bags of food on the floor. He rushes to you, sat up against the bed, a bandage wrapped around your head. He looks you over, thinking you'd tried to hurt yourself. But his fear is replaced with something much more sombre when he sees you're free of injury.
"Is that what you think of me? That I'd kill you because we have a- a hiccup?"
He calls kidnap a hiccup?
He clenches his fists, he seems to struggle to look at you.
"Is this about what happened with Euphie? You think that dying is the only way to get my attention?"
God, not this inane bullshit again. He was convinced that you were jealous of a dead girl. Once upon a time you were worried that he'd never let her go, that you would always be second to a ghost. And now, you wished that that was the case.
"Because you dont need to, damn it. You just need to ask, I'd give you everything if you asked!"
"So you'd kill-"
He slaps his hand over your mouth, infuriated that you'd ask again. It almost stung as much as the wound on your head that you got trying to fight him off when he took you.
"No. I couldn't, that's the only thing I could never give you. I'm sorry." He wasn't sorry, and it was starting to piss you off.
"Just stop." You almost growl beneath his palm, so tired of putting up with him. "Suzaku, I can’t live like this, not here, not with you-"
"YOU DON'T MEAN THAT!"
His shout surprises you, banging your head against the headboard that you're pressed against.
His fist punches into the wall behind your head and for the first time, you're sacred that he might deliberately hurt you.
"...you don't mean that."
His voice his weaker this time and you seem to have completely lost yours.
"You don't. I know it." He said to himself under his breath, seemingly trying to convince himself.
"We're all we have left, from the beginning its always been us. I was an idiot but I'm fixing it. And then I'll bring our home back."
"Suzaku-"
"I know I'm not good enough for you, I know that. But I will be. Once I become viceroy, I'll fix it all."
"Suzaku, I know you're trying but you didn't need to do this. " You say, gesturing to the now highly secure apartment. "I dont want to be trapped-"
"You're not! We'll leave eventually but not right now. It's not safe, you know that.” He has a stern look in his green eyes, one that reminds you of his father. “ It’s not safe, let me protect you.”
The dull ache in your head reminded you not to trust him, no matter how much he pleaded. You had loved him, yes. But you couldn’t forgive this.
He looks up at you with a tired, longing look before he sighs. Resting his head on your shoulder he wraps an arm around your waist to hold you close.
“Please.” He begged, and your heart ached. “I can’t do it without you.”
Oh Suzaku. You reach up to stroke his back. You couldn’t forgive him, but that didn’t stop you from feeling hurt, seeing him like this.
“I know you love me.”
He pulls back, his eyes a little more dull than before and this raises alarms.
“I know you love me, so don’t lie like that ever again.” He spat. He leans his forehead against yours, staring deep into your eyes.
“Don’t make me do something I’ll really regret, okay?” The grip he had on your waist tightened and the increased pressure of his head against your injured one reminded you-
Suzaku hurt you to take you home. What else would he do to keep you there?

I'm like a mecha noobie, only watched things like Code Geass and Gurren Lagann, but I've wanted to try getting into more mecha anime, do you have any recommendations for toe-dipping into the genre?
If you’re looking for good series that A) aren’t massive time investments and are B) high quality, here are some of my favourites. You didn’t specify specifically what kind of stuff you’re looking for, so here’s a bunch of series that cover a wide variety of subgenres, tones etc.
The Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy (Mobile Suit Gundam 1, Mobile Suit Gundam 2: Soldiers of Sorrow, Mobile Suit Gundam 3, Encounters in Space. Trio of movies compiling the original Gundam TV series, space opera, late 70s / early 80s. The first entry of the largest and most popular mecha series, still one of the best ones despite its dated presentation.)
Macross: Do You Remember Love (Movie version of the original Macross series, space opera, mid 80s. Extremely beautiful animation, good character drama, high-stakes story.)
Expelled from Paradise (Movie, post-human sci-fi, 2014. Plays with interesting concepts, very good looking production despite being animated entirely in 3D.)
Aim for the top: Gunbuster (late 80s space opera OVA, 6 episodes. First work produced chiefly by Hideaki Anno of Evangelion fame. Excellent animation, incredibly emotional and dramatic plot arc.)
Armor Hunter Mellowlink (late 80s war drama OVA, 12 episodes. Spin-off of Armored Trooper Votoms that doesn’t need you to watch the main series first. Unique in that it mostly features the protagonist fighting enemy mecha on foot.)
Getter Robo Armageddon (Dark and violent post-apocalyptic late 80s OVA, 12 episodes, probably the best animated work featuring one of the genre’s founding franchises.)
Patlabor: The Mobile Police (Late 80s near-future setting OVA, 7 episodes. Also there’s a full length TV series by the same name that’s also excellent. All about law enforcement in a post-mecha world, mostly comedic.)
SSSS.Gridman (2018 giant hero TV series, 12 episodes. Technically a giant hero series like Ultraman but hits all the right spots for mecha fans. Good all round production by Studio Trigger, has a sequel series currently airing.)
Planet With (2019 space opera / absurdist TV series, 12 episodes. Extremely bizarre but ultimately well-made and emotionally touching story.)
Bokurano (2007 psychological thriller / cosmic horror TV series, 26 episodes. Features titanic robots, equal parts nightmare fuel and emotional roller coaster, probably the saddest mecha series.)
Overman King Gainer (2002 post-post apocalypse TV series, 26 episodes. Fairly light-hearted production by the creator of the original Gundam featuring excellent hand-drawn animation and exotic mecha designs.)
Terrestrial Defence Corp. Dai-Guard (Late 90s near-future comedy TV series, 26 episodes. Classic super robot setup featuring a giant robot against extradimensional invaders, but with the “realistic” elements played up for laughs.)
Tetsujin 28 (2004 retro sci-fi TV series, 26 episodes. Reboot of the original series featuring the very first giant robot in Japanese media. Highly melancholy series with heavy themes.)
Gun X Sword (2007 sci-fi Western series, 26 episodes. Great characters and humour centred around a story themed around the concept of revenge in a wild-West esque sci-fi setting. Earlier creation of the director of Code Geass.)
Martian Successor Nadesico (Late 90s TV series, space opera, 26 episodes. Tongue-in-cheek story that lampoons the genre with a great cast of characters, highly recommended.)
The Big O (Late 90s retro sci-fi series with noir trappings, 26 episodes. Strange but very compelling setting and story with an ending that remains hotly debated to this day. Visual style very similar to the animated batman TV series from around the same timeframe.)
The Vision of Escaflowne (Late 90s fantasy series, 26 episodes. Isekai series featuring giant robots, and a romance-heavy shoujou-esque storyline. Very high quality production values and soundtrack.)
Note that this isn’t an exhaustive list, there are still several other series that could probably fit this bill that I haven’t seen yet and thus can’t recommend with any confidence. I tried to keep all my suggestions under 30 episodes long, but there’s a bunch more I could recommend over that limit.

If Danganronpa: Another Despair Academy had an English cast
So I recently made a post very similar to this where I talked about who a hypothetical English voice cast for Our World Is Ended would be. I kind of enjoyed making that post, so I decided to do something similar with the cast of a Danganronpa fan game that has been featured prominently on my chanel and that’s the Danganronpa: Another series. Being a Korean fan game, the original dub of Danganronpa Another has barely any dialogue to speak of. In fact, the only two characters in the series who speak often are Yuki and Sora, the protagonists of the two games, but that’s when they’re in trials. As of right now, a group of people is working on an English dub for the second game. This is why I’m specifically going to talk about the first game in the series, and bare in mind 2 things.
1) There will be some pretty heavy spoilers that I talk about in this post, so if you’re going to read it, please play the game, watch a playthrough or read up on it first.
2) If by any chance the first game gets a dub and the following people I do mention end up voicing the characters, I assure you it is purely coincidental. I wouldn’t even call this a hypothetical scenario so much as I’d call it a basic thought process of my weird weird mind.
Without further ado, let’s begin.
Yuki Maeda: Yuri Lowenthal
Tumblr media
In the current dub for the second game, Yuki is being voiced by a user by the name of Soluri, who is pretty talented in their right, but my thought process for an alternative voice actor would be this. Yuki as a protagonist takes a very similar standing as Makoto Naegi and Hajime Hinata, whom are voiced by Bryce Papenbrook and Johnny Yong Bosch respectively, so if I was given a choice to choose who could voice act him, then I think Yuri Lowenthal would be a fitting choice, since he’s also often voiced protagonists. Being someone who often does work in famous franchises, his voice work includes Marth from Fire Emblem, Yosuke Hanamura in Persona, Ben Tennyson in many Ben 10 works, Klavier Gavin in Ace Attorney, Simon in Gurren Lagann and Suzaku from Code Geass. However, he’d also be a fitting choice since I believe he’d be able to do a good job as both the somwhat cowardly and submissive Yuki as well as the mysterious and somewhat stoically dangerous Utsuro, as he is also the main VA for Sasuke in Naruto and Alucard in Castlevania.
Akane Taira: Monica Rial
Tumblr media
Akane’s basic character throughout the majority of the game is that she’s lighthearted and even though the killing game is getting to her just as much as everyone else, she still finds a way to lighten the atmosphere, and is a usually cheery and kind person, if a little scary when angry. However, her true nature is something much more freakish, being, in actuality, the mastermind behind the aforementioned killing game that she spends a lot of the game seemingly fighting against. For an English VA, I think the best bet is Monica Rial, who has previously voiced in Danganronpa as Sayaka Maizono in the Danganronpa anime. The reason for my choice is she has previously voiced usually nice, if a little stern, characters like Bulma from Dragon Ball, Tsuyu Asui from My Hero Academia, May Chang from Full Metal Alchemist, Tsubaki from Soul Eater, Kayano from Assassination Classroom, Mirajane Strauss from Fairy Tale and Sakura from CardCaptor Sakura. However, she’s not one to shy away from maniacal villains, or generally creepy characters either, also voicing Tanya from Saga of Tanya the Evil, Krul Tepes from Seraph of the End or Stocking from Panty and Stocking. Also doing the voice of Misaki Ayuzawa from Maid Sama and Mey-rin in Black Butler, she’s not new to voicing maid characters.
Tsurugi Kinjo: Crispin Freeman
Tumblr media
Having already done voice work in a main Danganronpa game, albeit for a very unlikable character, I ruled out Matthew Mercer for this one. I can only really describe Tsurugi as the Nagito Komaeda of this series. He has good intentions, but a really messed up way of thinking, even at times quite self-deprecating and reflecting on his own incapabilities to stop the killing game and catch the mastermind. Like I already said, he seems like he’d be voiced by a deep voiced character like Matt Mercer, but when it comes to characters like that, Crispin Freeman is a safe bet. Some of the rightous and/or badass characters that he’s lent his voice to include Winston from Overwatch, Kyon in the Haruhi Suzumiya series, Tsume in Wolf’s Rain and more, but can also do a pretty good crazy character every once in a while, like Alucard from Hellsing, Itachi Uchiha from Naruto and Firefly in the Batman Arkham Series.
Rei Mekaru: Laura Post
Tumblr media
Admittedly, I was considering Monica Rial for this crude and shrewd character too. Mature and professional to a fault, barely showing any sort of real emotion and often insulting the other killing game participants for seemingly no reason, Rei is basically Another 2′s Byakuya Togami, intelligent, but rude. Having previously voiced condescending characters, Laura Post is a pretty good choice. I’m referring mostly to characters like Kill La Kill’s Ragyo Kiryuin and Fubuki/Blizzard from Hell from One Punch Man, as well as Diana Cavendish from Little Witch Academia and one of her first ever performances, Queen Nehelenia from Sailor Moon. However, Laura Post has also voiced rather gentle and friendly characters before, which would be a good way to highlight Rei’s secret soft side. Characters like Nozomi Tojo from Love Live and her most recent role, Kasumi Yoshizawa from Persona 5 Royal.
Haruhiko “Haru”  Kobashikawa: Sam Riegal
Tumblr media
The minute I was introduced to him, I immediately thought, “Ok, he’s going to be the Kazuichi of this game isn’t he?” And to be honest, I don’t think I was that far off. However, even so, he seems more like Kaito if Kaito wasn’t necessarily a central character. Haru’s important, but he’s on the same level of importance as a character like say...Game 1 Toko. A sociable person who’s only goal is to get along well with everyone, he’s cheerful, laid back and more often than not pretty amusing to watch. Someone I believe to be fit for the role, having previously voiced a repertoire of pretty dorky and likeable characters, is Sam Riegal. By that, I mean he’s done the voice work of Teddy from Persona, Phoenix Wright in Ace Attorney, Emperor Awesome in Wander of Yonder,  Kanata from Trinity Universe, Shirou Emiya from Fate/Stay Night and Donatello in a large number of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles works.
Teruya Otori: Kyle McCarly
Tumblr media
Teruya is a character that returns for the second game, and his voice actor in that is NuzikVA. I was really stuck on this one, since Yuri Lowenthal, whom I picked for Yuki, was my main option for Teruya too, but my second option for him would be just as viable. One of Teruya’s most important aspects to his character is that he has a pretty unique western accent despite being Japanese, since his Ultimate Merchant talent means he’s travelled the world and picked up on a few things. On top of that, he’s pretty adorkable and a little childish. I’ve heard Yuri Lowenthal do accents before, which is why I considered it, but I figured anything Yuri Lowenthal can do, Kyle McCarly can do just as well, if not better. He’s a voice actor who’s lines are packed full of expression and some of his previous work includes 9S from Neir: Automata, Hyde in Cross Tag Battle, Hal in Astral Chain, Gatekeeper in Fire Emblem Three Houses and Narancia in JoJo Part 5.
Satsuki Iranami: Deva Marie Gregory
Tumblr media
While she was a character that I found initially very irritating and she was definitely the one I had to warm to the most, I won’t deny that Satsuki Iranami is like 70% of the humour and happiness in this game. Similarly to Ibuki, she tends to act childish and make jokes in very tense situations and as described by Yuki as “a person that makes you tired just by talking with her” or something along those lines. Now, this might seem like a pretty obscure and strange choice for a VA, but my choice for a voice is Deva Marie Gregory. It’s obscure, since she is relatively new to the voice acting industry, only voicing one character in one franchise so far. However, that character is Flayn from Fire Emblem Three Houses, arguably one of the characters with the more comedic dialogue. I can totally picture her playing an “In-your-face” practical joker character like Satsuki, making common wisecracks, and it’s something I’d really like to bear witness to.
Mitsuhiro “Mitch” Higa: Joe Brogie
Tumblr media
Possibly my least favourite character in this game, he’s essentially a worse version of Leon Kuwata from the first game. He’s genuinely kind of a chill guy, but his status as the Ultimate Soccer Player and his world fame makes him more than a little arrogant and cocky and often ignores people who he doesn’t care for. Joe Brogie is my choice for him, despite being a relatively new voice actor. His previous work includes the player character from God Eater 3, Linus from Fire Emblem Heroes, Donatello from Injustice 2 and Sylvain Jose Gautier from Fire Emblem Three Houses. However, despite his few roles and lacking history of voices, he’s talented and capable nonetheless.
Kizuna Tomori: Tia Ballard
Tumblr media
Kizuna can be described in the following words: Cutesy, flirtatious and distrustful. I know those phrases sound mutually exclusive to each other, but trust me, it’s true. Obviously, her nature just changes depending on the situation, since she’s lighthearted and merry more often than not, but in a tense situation becomes suspicious, snappy and even physically violent. I picture her having a high voice, and when taking her character into account, I think the best bet is Tia Ballard. The main reason for my choice is that Tia’s most common voices belong to generally “moe” anime girls, but she voices them in a way that doesn’t sound annoyingly high pitched like how Stephanie Sheh does with Mikan in Danganronpa 2. If Ballard voiced Kizuna, she could pretty much perfectly land the “cutesy at first, but angry when provoked” attitude that Kizuna has. Some of her previous work includes Marron from Dragon Ball, Happy from Fairy Tail, Chiho Sasaki from The Devil is a Part Timer, Takao from D-Frag, Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx and has actually voiced in Danganronpa previously as Daisaku Bandai in Danganronpa 3.
Mikako Kurokawa: Brittany Cox
Tumblr media
Extremely similarly to my choice for Satsuki, my choice for Mikako has also only ever been in one game, and it’s the same game as my choice for Satsuki actually. Mikako is a quiet person and she isn’t much of a talker, and when she does she sticks to short replies after long periods of silence, often causing people to forget she's around or becoming surprised when she eventually speaks up. She is unresponsive in a conversation and avoids making eye contact with anyone she talks to which seems rude, but her past explains why. The character Brittany Cox plays in Three Houses is Ingrid Galatea, who is generally a pretty merry, if a little serious and motherly, character, who’s personality isn’t a quiet one. However, while her voice acting is really good, Brittany Cox has a bit of a stoic, monotone and quiet voice, that I believe would fit Mikako perfectly.
Kinji Uehara: Robbie Daymond
Tumblr media
There were a few reasons why I chose this person for this characters voice, but I’ll talk about those in a moment. Kinji is the good type of priest, one who is serious and quiet, but is a good listener, and respectful of people to a point where he doesn’t force his religious ideals onto others. However, when put under immense amounts of pressure, he can break down and turn somewhat psychotic. Hence my choice for his voice actor. Robbie Daymond is a personal favourite of mine, since he has a special talent of playing characters such as Goro Akechi and Hubert Vestra, from Persona and Three Houses respectively; characters who for the most part are calm, reserved, quiet and in Akechi’s case, somewhat kind. However, after certain points in the games stories, the two characters turn inexplicably evil and crazy, and the voice work and the shift in tone has such an amazing range that it’s hard to believe it’s the same guy. Seriously, look up Daymond’s work as Akechi, it’s honestly amazing and is the type of voice I’d honestly expect for Kinji when he breaks down. Alongside those two roles, Daymond also voices Prompto in Final Fantasy 15, Reinhard in RE:Zero, Professor Willow in Pokemon, Gilthunder in Nanatsu No Taizai and Mumen Rider in One Punch Man.
Kiyoka Maki: Colleen Clinkenbeard
Tumblr media
A girl with a personality that doesn’t match her talent, Kiyoka Maki is outgoing and carefree and doesn’t have an awful lot of care for her talent, being way more interested in more effeminate things than guns. When I first saw Kiyoka and was introduced to her character, for some reason I thought “This is the type of character Colleen Clinkenbeard would voice.” Originally I was going to cast Clinkenbeard as Teruya before I realised Teruya wouldn’t necessarily have a child-like voice. Clinkenbeard however, does have experience of voicing male anime characters, and a lot of characters that scream a lot, Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece and Young Gohan being the prime examples. Alongside that, she’s also voiced another gunslinger in Full Metal Alchemist as Riza Hawkeye, as well as Momo Yaoyorozu in My Hero Academia, Rachel Moore in Case Closed, Erza Scarlet in Fairy Tail and previously in Danganronpa 3 as the loveable Chisa Yukizome.
Ayame Hatano: Karen Strassman
Tumblr media
Ayame is a stoic and strong-willed person. Although she appears to be perfectly calm in most situations, she admits that she can be awkward especially during conversations, and as a result, she has a tendency to ramble and wander off in her own, or not talk much at all. To me, she seems like a character that someone like Karen Strassman would lend her voice to, since she’s played several characters with those personality traits before. To name a few, there’s Aigis and Nanako from Persona and she’s also voiced Anna in several Fire Emblem games. She’s also played Kallen Stadtfeld in Code Geass, Miyuki Takara in Lucky Star and Rouge the Bat in several Sonic the Hedghog games.
Kanata Inori: Felicia Angelle
Tumblr media
I was also considering casting Tia Ballard for this character too, but unlike Kizuna, Kanata genuinely seems like a moe character that would have a high voice. Kanata is a sweet girl who wishes nothing more than the comfort of her patients and everyone else around her. Exceedingly formal and polite, she addresses her classmates as Mr or Ms, like how Hifumi Yamada does in the first game. My choice for her is Felicia Angelle, who’s repertoire consists of both cute and geeky anime girls, as well a little bit of the scary stuff too. This includes Tohru Hagakure from My Hero Academia, Perona from One Piece, The Supreme Kai of Time from Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Shinoa Hiragi from Seraph of the end, Shaltear from Overlord, Georgie from Maid Dragon and has previously been in the Danganronpa anime, playing Aoi Asahina.
Kakeru Yamaguchi: J Michael Tatum
Tumblr media
I have a pretty good reason for this cast. Becoming a legal prodigy when he was quite young, Kakeru is a character who seems to have a split personality, but on a level way less extreme than that of Toko Fukawa. Essentially, he’s usually quite a timid and shy person, that finds it hard to hold a conversation, but when he’s in the courtroom or a class trial, he becomes quite loud and brash in a way similar to that of Nekomaru in the second game. His personality reminds me that of characters like Tenya Iida from My Hero Academia and Rei Ryugazaki from Free! both of whom are voiced by J Michal Tatum, whom is my choice for Kakeru. Tatum has also voiced Zarbon from Dragon Ball, Commander Erwin from Attack on Titan, Rintaro Okabe from Steins:Gate, Scar from Full Metal Alchemist, France from Hetalia and Sebastian from Black Butler.
Yamato Kisaragi: Max Mittleman
Tumblr media
Yamato is almost as crazy an inventor as Miu, sans the whole sexual and perverted invention parts. Being a character who’s introduced a little later into the story, Yamato is pretty quirky, energetic and honestly friendly, but that leads people to be a little doubtful of him, Tsurugi in particular. His energetic character and his genuine feel make me think that someone who could voice him is Max Mittleman. Mittleman’s previous voices include Plag from Miraculous Ladybug, Ryuji Sakamoto from Persona, Saitama from One Punch Man, King from Natatsu No Taizai, Meruem in HunterXHunter and more
So that’s what I got. If you liked this, then leave me a heart and repost if you want. If you have any other recommendations for Japanese exclusive projects I should assign voice actors to, then let me know.

5. List all anime you have ever watched
This one is sort of impossible to do, because I sort of stopped counting about five years ago when I started watching seasonal anime. From what I remember I grew up with Kimba the White Lion, Moomins, Pokemon, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Digimon and sometimes I would catch glimpses of Sailor Moon. The “real” anime that really got me in anime was D. Gray Man and from that point on I got into Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater, Black Butler, Bleach, Wolf’s Rain, Ouran High School Host Club and Ao no Exorcist. I think I never really got into long series like Naruto (I had a friend who watched all episodes several times and pretty much just told me the whole plot after I gave up somewhere in the middle of Shippuden) and Fairy Tail (my other friend really liked it and tried to get me into it, but I don’t think I watched more than 50 episodes). I also watched Death Note and I found it pretty interesting (though I needed subtitles in my native language cuz I was still 13 at the time and didn’t know a lot of difficult English words).  Yu-Gi-Oh! was that one anime for which I didn’t lost interest and it also convinced me to start watching anime in Japanese (5Ds was still ongoing at the time, right somewhere in the middle of Dark Signers arc). I was slowly getting into cosplay at the time and I met a very good friend at one of the local anime conventions who introduced me to a lot of good anime like Shiki, Mirai Nikki, Attack on Titan and Code Geass. I guess that’s when I figured out I like certain genres, especially supernatural and mystery, though there were several anime whose genres I didn’t like that much, but I still loved the anime. Sometime in 2015 I started watching seasonal anime aka. I would read all descriptions for upcoming anime, pick up to eight of them and pick one that was “old classic” alongside it. This hasn’t changed much ever since and it is a pretty good way to stay in touch in anime. I tend to drop a few of them after 3-4 episode rule, but I try to be patient if the story, characters or setting are especially good. The current anime I’m watching right now are: Pokemon 2019, Pet (anime version of Inception basically), Breakers (anime shorts about para-athletes), Somali to Mori no Kamisama (cute story about a golem and a little girl that he adopts), Uchi Tama?! Uchi no Tama Shirimasenka? (hilarious show about daily lives of cats and dogs), Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (supernatural mystery about urban legends in school aka. Seven Wonders), 4th season of My Hero Academia and Mairimashita! Iruma-kun (My Hero Academia basically, but with blue Deku and demons). Out of “old classics” I’m watching Fafner in the Azure (mecha, post-apocalyptic anime) and Kyou Kara Maou (probably the funniest Isekai anime I ever watched and it is just getting funnier ever after 50 episodes).
So yeah it would be better to just ask me if I know a certain anime or not, rather than asking me to list down everything I’ve watched so far.
 6. Popular anime you didn’t like
The thing with me is that I’m sort of following the rule “First watch, then judge” and that I tend to avoid popular anime because I enjoy rare gems more. Like I needed a while to get into Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia because it was everywhere and so talked about it was annoying, but it is still among my favourite action series due to incredible story writing, memorable characters and unique setting. It was easier with Yuri on Ice! and Kimetsu no Yaiba because I got to watch it before they became so popular and that’s one of the many reasons why I started following seasonal anime.
If I have to point at one or few popular anime I don’t like, then that’s probably long shounen series like One Piece and Dragon Ball. I don’t think I saw more than twenty episodes for both and I guess the reason was that I just didn’t find it interesting enough to continue or I didn’t like the humour. The main issue I have with long shounen series is that they follow the same cookie-cutter recipe where you have a hero who goes through a long training arc and then goes through a long villain fighting arc which just gets tiresome after a while. There are long shounen series like My Hero Academia and Kimetsu no Yaiba that put more emphasis on the well-paced story and don’t drag on as much.
I’m also not that fond of popular romance, drama and slice-of-life anime like Toradora and Clannad. I understand why people like it, but I’m very picky when it comes to such genres in anime. That doesn’t mean I don’t watch such genres at all, it is just that I prefer them in a certain way. For example, I really love Charlotte, anime that is considered bad due to a plot twist somewhere in the middle and rushed ending, but I actually really like those parts and find them really emotional. The story was just so well put together. But for anime movies like Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms and Silent Voice… I didn’t find it emotional at all due to how forced it felt and the story was very clumsy when exploring such difficult themes. In this case, it wasn’t that I didn’t like them but more like I saw potential in them and was disappointed when it wasn’t properly developed.

Man weirdos coming for MMDS now too? People need to not read what they don't like. Simple as that. Idk I've been sort of annoyed with the EM fandom lately because there's this weirdo obsession with pointing out every toxic, negative aspect about EM. Like yes we get it, we read it, we know how it all went down. It's honestly annoying and it's making me sad every time I log onto see "reminder that this happened and reminding you that it's unforgivable." I know. I don't want to keep discussing it.
That's honestly why I read your fics because it's a breath of fresh air from all that insanity. When I want EM, I want them being able to love each other and spoil each other rotten. And you deliver each time. Thanks for the food. Idk how you're able to crank out so much quality in a short amount of time but you're a blessing to the fandom <3
I know, I'm like JUST HIT THE BACK BUTTON BRO!! But thats crazy that u notice the toxicity even within our own EM fandom? I don't interact too much on twitter, only with mutuals sometimes, I definitely like the bubble of Tumblr better. But yeah ppl really go out of their way to argue about stuff sometimes and it's all just so toxic.
I don't really understand why they do it, I don't think EM's relationship was toxic at all or that we need to rehash that she killed him or blah blah. I find it tragic and beautiful. It all reminds me very much of Code Geass, but I think others overanalyze every little action too much, they see it to black and white.
In the end I think EMs feelings are more important than any 'unforgivable' actions and thats why I like writing reincarnation AUs where they remember lol!! I like to have the beauty and the feelings without too much tragedy! And I like to joke about it because humour is my fave coping mechanism lol!
Lol thank you, I'm glad my fics are a little different lol!! 💕💕💕 Ppl focus so much on the drama and I'm like I'M NOT MAKING IT THAT DEEP, I just want them to love each other 😭😭

THECHLOBO TAG - Day 7!
Today the question in the THECHLOBO TAG is my favourite character from anything like movies, series, anime, video games and stuff like that.
This is my top 10 (I know I’m only supposed to do my favourite one I’m going above and beyond)
1 Hisoka (hunter x hunter 2011)
Hisoka is from an anime called hunter x hunter and I’ve never seen anything like his character before. He’s just hilarious and his voice in English dub 2011 suits him perfectly but if you don’t like clowns his character is Nightmare fuel.
2 Dirk Gently (dirk gently holistic detective agency)
Dirk gently is the main character from a series on Netflix called Dirk gently holistic detective agency. A lot of people in this list I just like because of their humour and dirk is no exception. The way he’s so sarcastic and gets into peoples brains is so funny. You seriously need to watch this series
3 Kaori miyazono (your lie in April)
Incase you haven’t watched this anime I won’t spoil why my love for this character grew so much towards the end of the show. I cosplayed as her for comic con this year as we look quite similar and her cheery personality is quite similar to mine. All I’m going to say is when we see her backstory we see her with glasses on her own at school and it reminds me so much of myself. I love the whole aesthetic of the anime with the cherry blossoms and black cat almost always in shot.
4 L lawliet (death note)
Some say death note is the best anime of all time and whereas it’s not my favourite it is iconic. Especially my favourite character L who is the detective who looks emo as f*ck. I’m surprised he hasn’t got diabetes with all of the cake he has and sugar he has in his tea. He can really be hilarious without knowing like when he said “I’ll give you this strawberry if you keep it a secret ok? And when misa said “I could never live in a world without light” and he said “yes that would be dark” It’s just that how cute he is makes me melt.
5 D.va (overwatch)
This is the only video game character on the list as I realised i don’t play as many video games as I thought I do. D.va is from my fav game overwatch and she is a girl who drives a massive pink mech... WHATS NOT TO LIKE. I love one of her sayings which is WINKY FACE and she says it in such a cute voice. I feel like that would be me in a video game.
6 Rogue (fairy tail)
Rogue is from fairy tail and I was debating if I preferred Rogue, Natsu or Mavis. Mavis is really funny and natsu is hard not to like but I decided to go for the shadow dragon slayer Rogue because he appears to emo and serious but when Frosh (If that’s how u spell it) is envolved he goes all soft. I like this because I also love animals but when sting in one of the fairy tail rip off mangas about sting and rouge eats the flower frosh got for rouge rouge gets really angry. When frosh gets another and says he is ok Rogue bursts into tears and it’s so cute!
7 Lloyd (code geass)
Lloyd is the L of code geass but a little less funny. He is also very clever and his voice in English dub cracks me up. Lloyd is a scientist who is always with Cecil who cooks weird things like jelly in the middle of one of those rice triangle things they have in Japan (and I call myself an otaku 😂) So when Lloyd tastes one of these things his face his priceless and he is like of course you put jelly in it. I ship them so hard that my heart has melted
8 Juuzou (Tokyo ghoul)
Juuzou is my favourite character from Tokyo ghoul. His back story is real dark and his character design with the stitches all over hhis body suits his psychopathic personality really well.
9 Teenage groot (Avengers infinity war)
Haven’t seen this movie yet but judging from baby groot and the trailer I already love him. It’s just a tree with a teenage attitude and I love that we get to see groot grow up as baby groot was hilarious and I don’t think teengage groot will let us down.
10 Bad Ape (War for Planet of the apes)
It’s been a while since I’ve watched this movie but the character bad ape I can’t forget. When he is looking into some binoculars the wrong way and says “oh no, my so small” I fell in love with the character and I even have the pop figure of him now.

Some new SRW 30 info dropped on Famitsu.
Tumblr media
In addition to the Huckebein 30 which is the original protagonist mecha, there’s also this new original battleship to serve as the player’s flagship. V, X and T all had cameo space battleship entries as part of the licensed cast (Yamato in V, Nadia in X, Harlock in T) but 30 doesn’t, and from my knowledge on the series that are in (at least the ones I’ve seen) the potential choice of battleships is pretty sparse. The Ra Cailum from CCA is a high likelihood to return unchanged from T, as is the NSX from Rayearth (thought that’s probably a mid-to-late game acquisition.) The Argama from Zeta and the Reinforce Jr. from Victory Gundam are both potential options but I doubt they’ll want to go for more than 1 Gundam battleship (and Captain Gomez’s voice actor apparently died a fair while ago now.) The third Code Geass movie is listed as a units-only entry, meaning that the Ikaruga’s a potential addition but it only appeared very briefly in that movie and not at all in Lelouch of the Ressurection so I doubt it. I know there’s a spaceship in Majestic Prince but from what little I’ve seen it’s more or less just a transport for the main cast’s robots and from what I can tell it doesn’t have any real armament. In light of all that it makes sense for them to add an OG battleship. Apparently it’s called the “Dry strager” or something that sounds like that, I’m sure the spelling will be different in the official translation.
Tumblr media
For what it’s worth I love the design. It has a bunch of smaller launch bays for the small-mid size robots and apparently that big disk in the centre mass is meant to be the launch gate for the biggest super robots. It’s always been a point of inconsistency (and occasionally humour) in the older SRW games that there were battleships from the likes of the Gundam series and Nadesico that were having to play host to mecha that were way too fucking big for them, and this at least seems to be making an effort to sidestep that.
In terms of other roster announcements, it’s mostly just new screenshots of stuff that we already saw in the trailer, with two exceptions:
Tumblr media
The Betterman portion of Gaogaigar vs Betterman isn’t being left out, Lamia has made it in as a playable character. I definitely don’t recognise this Betterman form though, it must be one that’s exclusive to the manga. I need to get round to reading that (or what’s been translated so far,) but I think I definitely need to rewatch Betterman first, the lore for that is really wild and I don’t remember it that well. Honestly that was the last series I was expecting to have to rewatch when preparing for the next SRW entry.
The other, less exciting new confirmation is that the White Ark from Victory has made it in, shown here getting bullied by Zoltan and Sinanju Stein.
Tumblr media
Otherwise the article’s mostly talking about the new, more free-form mission structure. I’ve got some slightly mixed feelings about that, I think allowing players a lot of freedom in choosing what order to play missions in might necessitate having the plot be less tightly constructed that previous entries, but it’s potentially exciting if it’s pulled off well. Assuming your moon-roon deciphering abilities are as feeble as mine, here’s the video I watched where a guy looks over the article and gives his commentary.

I was tagged by Samantha..aka @bookloveranimewatcher for this question tag. Thank you so much Samantha and I’m honoured that you follow and enjoy my blog.
1.       Hamburgers or Hotdogs
I’m not a big fan of either but if I had to pick one I’d pick Hotdogs
2.       If you had to live in the world of the last anime, book or tv show you’ve seen. How fucked are you?
The last anime I watched was Code Geass so I’d say I’m pretty screwed.
Last book was The Street Lawyer so I think I’m ok.
Last tv show was Brooklyn nine nine so It’s all good there.
3.       Any college advice
I’m sorry to say I can’t be of any help here, I myself am in that stage where I’m done with school and I need to figure out what to do with my life..
4.       Do you play a instrument? Do you sing?
I can play the drums. That’s pretty much it. I used to be able to play the flute when I was little but I can’t anymore. And no I cannot sing.
5.       What’s your unusual skill?
I’m not sure I have one. Unless you count being able to cook a proper meal from scratch without taking a proper cooking class a talent…
6.       Favorite fruit?
I have a very unique choice on this. Custard Apple. They are delicious!!
7.       Which school archetype do you think you fit into best? Which one would you want to be in?
I think I was probably the studious nerd with a sense of humour who was always making fun of the popular people along with my other nerd friends. And I think that is the one I would want to be in. So I was basically Daria in school
8.       Do you consider tomatoes a fruit or a vegetable?
It is a fruit but I’ve always felt it belongs with the vegetables
9.       Do you have a pet? Would like to have a pet if you don’t already?
We have a family pet cat named Foofi. He’s the cutest J
10.   What’s jobs did you want to be when you were really young?
I always used to go back and forth between Teacher and Doctor..
________________________________________________________________
   Here are my 10 questions.
1.       What fictional character can you relate to the most? (I’m keeping it very open it can be from a movie/tv series/book/anime/cartoon)
2.       What was your very first OTP? And why? (The why is optional but I would love it if you could elaborate)
3.       What is your favourite sport? (To watch or to play)
4.       What is the stupidest or most embarrassing way you’ve injured yourself (If this doesn’t apply to any of you, you can skip it, I only ask because I am super clumsy and constantly getting injured)
5.       What would your perfect weekend be like?
6.       If you could hang out with any celebrity who would it be? And why?
7.       Are you a cat person or a dog person? (Neither or both are also options, but if you say neither you have to tell me what other animal you prefer)
8.       What is your favourite colour?
9.       What would be your go to karaoke song if you absolutely had to sing?
10.   Which Hogwarts house would you be sorted into? (I’m a huge potterhead so please describe to me in detail why you think you’d be sorted into the house you choose. I’m very curious.)
